This client was worried about his teeth because he knew that his high soda diet damaged his teeth. He did not smile at all when we met probably due to the condition of his teeth. We were able to fix the tooth damage and transform his smile at the same time. Now he’s smiling every time we see him and he loves talking story with us. We wanted to go for a beautiful and realistic smile and I’m glad we were able to achieve that for him. This case used a combination of porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges.

This young lady came to me because she didn’t like how small her lateral incisors (side upper teeth) were. After wearing braces for awhile, enough space was created so that we could make lateral incisors that she liked. 2 veneers and some teeth whitening has now given her a beautiful smile which matches her pretty face! The before picture shows a partial denture replacing a few of the front missing teeth. She was interested in dental implants but also told me she’s never been happy with her smile. The teeth had different colors and sizes and did not follow her lip line. With a combination of porcelain bridges, crowns and dental implants and proper esthetic design she now loves her new smile!

Some people fly in to see me at the office from outside Oahu. This gentlemen did not like how you could not see his upper teeth when smiling. Some people thought he had no upper teeth. I had to have him to an extremely big smile to get the before shot, you could not see his uppers when he had a regular smile. However, after finishing his work, he is always smiling and looks over 10 years younger. Some of his wrinkles around his cheeks has shrunken and he’s ecstatic about his new smile which matches his amazing aloha spirit. I made his teeth whiter with cosmetic crowns and some removable dentures but people have commented that they noticed he got a new crown makeover and can’t tell that he some parts that are removable.

This client had a smile makeover done years ago and had a few veneers replaced over time. She wanted to make sure the final results looked natural and not fake. You can see the difference in colors of the upper front teeth and can notice that the lower teeth are crooked. With a new set of natural looking veneers, her front teeth are all uniform in color and the bottom teeth look nice and straight. She told us how happy she was with the final results and how natural they looked.

This wonderful young woman wanted her upper lateral incisors to have a proportional shape to her other teeth. She had something called peg laterals which many people are born with. An orthodontist straightened her teeth and left enough space for me to put veneers on these two teeth. Her front two teeth have a very high level of natural translucency which makes them beautiful but very difficult to match. After much communication with the lab and working together with the client to understand what she wanted, we were able to get a very nice natural look and smile.

I was surprised at the crooked smile that this client came in with. She mentioned others kept pointing it out to her. We redid the denture with white high quality teeth and now the upper teeth follow the contour of her upper lip. Now her smile looks much more natural and she loves the new whiter smile. We also changed the bite to give her better chewing and she doesn’t have to use dental adhesive anymore.

Sometimes chipped teeth can detract from a smile. Although the chip is not very large, it was still very noticeable when this patient smiled. Using layering techniques and shade matching, we got a nearly “invisible” blend and the client was happy to see his smile restored.

There is no before on this client because she lost her denture before she came to see me. We all know how a smile looks like when they’re missing their upper teeth. This client wanted whiter teeth so I made them whiter. If you look closely you’ll see small imperfections in the arrangement of the teeth which helps make the smile look more realistic. When the teeth are too perfectly lined up and totally symmetrical, that can make the smile look artificial. She was ecstatic and told me this set made her look better than her older one and felt very comfortable.

This patient was interested in closing the spaces between his upper front teeth (top left photo) without going through orthodontic treatment. Due to the spaces, he was admittedly self-conscious about smiling. In order to improve the arch form, teeth alignment, color and bite, we decided upon conservative porcelain veneers and one replacement crown. The middle left photo shows the temporary veneers in place based on a custom wax design that Dr. Mark hand-sculpted (see his biography page). The photos on the lower left and right display the final porcelain restorations. After they were tried-in, evaluated, approved of by the patient, and bonded into place, he was very happy to be able to smile without any spaces showing!

This patient came in wanting to replace her two upper front crowns due to their unnaturally opaque appearance and surrounding dark lines (upper left photo). Due to adjacent color and bite function issues, we performed a combination of highly aesthetic porcelain crowns and conservative veneers (lower left and right photo). She was thrilled with the improvement and finds herself smiling naturally now.

This patient wanted to improve the appearance of her two front teeth. They had root canals and discolored composite bondings that became stained and worn over time. The dark color made her self conscious about smiling and didn't match her cheerful personality. We performed two conservative porcelain veneers with custom coloring to blend in with the surrounding bleached natural teeth. She was thrilled with the result and couldn't remember the last time she smiled so much!
